If a woman does not know what is normal for her breast tissue, how will she know if something is changing?

We empower women to be proactive in caring for their breasts.

Our work is based on the work of Bruce Rind, MD and training through ACE MediCupping and the Spurlin Institute for Breast and Lymphatic Health in ethics, breast health education, and various treatment strategies. With one in eight women being diagnosed with severe breast disease, regular self-assessment and care has never been more important for all women. We show women how to become comfortable performing regular comprehensive self-exams, breast focused lymphatic drainage and self-massage, and teach them to identify and resolve areas of congestion while working with other health care providers as needed.

Breast Health Therapy for either acute or chronic issues such as swollen lymph nodes, tenderness, scar tissue from surgeries and injuries, myofascial restrictions and areas of congestion utilizes a combination of Lymphatic Drainage, breast MediCupping, and manual massage. Additionally, we evaluate postural distortions and lifestyle issues that can contribute to blocked lymphatic flow in the breast area and treat them or refer to others who can. We may also integrate light therapy or other tools to address specific areas.

Follow Up Recommendation:

We recommend scheduling a follow-up Breast Health Therapy appointment at the same time you schedule your educational session to occur 2-3 weeks following this visit. There we will review your home care progress, answer any questions and provide treatment as needed.

Breast Health Therapy

In this appointment we will review the information from your educational session and answer questions, then devote our time to rotating cycles of lymphatic drainage, breast cupping and massage. We also address any areas of scar tissue from injuries/surgeries and issues of the rib cage, neck, and shoulders since they profoundly influence breast health. At the end of the session, we will discuss plans for moving forward including suggestions for other integrative modalities and referrals to additional health care practitioners if desired. Many of our clients are working concurrently with medical doctors, chiropractors, naturopathic physicians, massage therapists, acupuncturists, counselors and/or others as part of their comprehensive breast health journey.

In rare situations we may allow clients to schedule a treatment session without the education session first, but will always recommend the education time as follow up for optimal breast care. This will be decided with your therapist on a case-by-case basis. Please call us to discuss if this consideration is needed rather than scheduling online.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After treatments I was scheduled for a lumpectomy in both breasts and then a reconstruction 2 weeks later. Although no implants were done, I needed to be cut open around the entire front half of my body. Sadly, healing was very slow, and I suffered with a large amount of scar tissue and myofascial pain through my chest, armpits, and torso. My rib cage was so tight it made it very difficult to breathe. I had tried weekly PT appointments that consisted of manual cupping, stretching, dry needling and massage. Nothing seemed to release the tightness or decrease the pain much in my chest and rib areas.

Dawn approached me in June of 2021 with a new breast program she had just finished training in. She knew I had been struggling and was seeing some success with the MediCupping she had started with me. The program helped me to become more familiar with my own tissue and I can now feel subtle differences in my breast tissue and armpit area where they had removed one lymph node on each side. She also performed a massage technique in the breast area and showed me how to manually move lymph whenever I needed to. I could literally feel lymphatic fluid moving during and after each session. With this manual massage and cupping technique my rib cage began to loosen up and I began to notice I could take deeper breaths. I could twist my body much more easily with much less pain. Each time I am in the shower I perform a manual lymph massage like Dawn showed me.

But the biggest benefit I think I have received by doing this program is the following. When I was diagnosed with cancer, they had found inflamed lymph nodes in my breastbone area. They determined it was not cancer but told me I most likely had a condition called sarcoidosis and that I may have had the condition my whole life. Pulmonology informed me that they had no way to cure this and had no idea what causes this condition to happen. This may have made it harder for me to breathe as well. However, about 3 months after I began the breast program with Dawn and my lymph began to move freely again, I was scheduled for a chest x-ray for another issue. When the doctor compared my most current chest x-ray with one from 3 years ago, she noted that the inflammation in the lymph nodes was gone! She was amazed. And so was I! I firmly believe that the cupping and manual lymph massage is what helped my lymph to begin to function as intended. Now that the fluid is moving as it should there is no more inflammation!

I will forever be grateful that Dawn could teach me how to do this and offer the program to me. The cupping that she does at her location is fantastic and has changed my life. I believe every single woman could benefit from this program. We tend to ignore the lymph in the breast and its function is vital to health. I cannot say thank you enough!
